Brad Andrews

Brad has been involved in the design and construction of all kinds of buildings over the last twenty years. He had intended to start a PhD in philosophy in 1988, however subsequent to his Father's unexpected demise in that year he found himself in charge of a small local building company with very little experience in either building or in business. Since then he has gained considerable experience of both.

His companies have acted as a contractor to local authorities, colleges as well as numerous private clients. Increasingly through the nineties he carried out design and build projects of which some were commercial but most were residential at the upper end of the value scale. He became increasingly interested in ethical business and in environmental issues. Brad built the first house in the country to incorporate a fully integrated, grid-connected photovoltaic roof for Dr Susan Roaf in Oxford. He also attended the MSc course in Energy Efficient Design at Oxford Brookes University in its first year of existence.

Towards the end of the nineties He decided to concentrate on speculative development. He has subsequently carried out a wide variety of residential and mixed-use schemes in and around Oxford including the town's first car-free development and an open market Key-worker scheme.

Brad decided to set up a new organization called Box Clever Group in 2007 which is concerned with bringing forward larger-scale urban regeneration in the South of England. Brad is deeply committed to the sustainability agenda in all of its forms and bases this commitment on an approach which seeks to work in collaboration with all sectors and all stakeholders and to base all decisions on what really matters to all parties.
